As a business owner everything that you do and your employees do is a reflection of you and your business. So it makes it even more important that you have the right team in place to interact with your valuable customers. Everyone has heard that old saying that an unhappy customer tells 10 times more people about their poor experience than a happy customer, so it is imperative that there are no unhappy customers for us business owners to be successful. It would be nice if that were possible but the reality is you will always have someone who is not happy. However having the right employees is a key to drastically minimizing the potential of unhappy customers. Take the time in searching for that perfect person and then create a plan to train and develop that person. Create clear expectations that clearly outline what you want your employees to do and the image you want them to portray. Provide rewards to your employees for a job well done and do not be afraid to address poor performance or issues as they arise. You should minimally be reviewing your employee’s performance once a year and ideally on a quarterly basis. You might think this will take too much of your time but it is absolutely worth your time to make sure your employees are doing what they are supposed to do.
